History:
This etching, a luxury print on ancient Japanese paper, is part of the series of ten etchings published as an album by Editions Apollo for Galerie Weill in 1930. One hundred albums, numbered from 1 to 100, were made on Vélin de van Gelder and ten luxury albums including two sets of engravings, one on vellum and the other on ancient Japan, were numbered from I to X. On the other hand, five non-commercial albums have been written from A to E. All the engravings on this album are signed and numbered off the plate. The artist reserved a few luxury copies on parchment for each of the subjects.
